Alvin Marching Contest 9/30/23

On Saturday, September 30th we are performing for the Alvin Invitational Marching Band Contest at Freedom Field in Alvin ISD. This is a Pre-lims/Finals style contest. We will perform in our pre-lims performance at 2:30pm and will be evaluated by 3 music and 2 visual judges. Only the top 7 bands will advance to Finals. Finals will begin that evening and the 7 finalist will perform again and be ranked based on their finals performance.

Dress: Full Uniform: Students need to wear LONG BLACK SOCKS with the full uniform. Students will wear their member shirt underneath the uniform. They will also wear black compression shorts or black basketball shorts underneath. Students with long hair will have to pull their hair into a “2 Braids” when in uniform. Students are not permitted to wear jewelry when in uniform. Students are not permitted to have nail polish on when in uniform. Students are not permitted to eat when in uniform.

Tickets

  • Admission to the contest is $5.00 per person, CARD ONLY.  The admission ticket is good for both Prelims and Finals.  Please encourage your parents, and other attendees, to purchase their tickets from the following link before arriving, to avoid a large crowd at the entrance.  They’ll still need to show their proof of purchase before entering the stadium.

  • We will also have this QR code posted at the front gate for ticket purchase.

Parking (spectators) – Entry #1 and #2 on map

  • Spectator entry will be the main entrance (#2 on map) off of Iowa Colony Blvd - but can also use entry #1 if necessary.

  • Spectator lots will be to the immediate right and left of those entrances.

  • Spectators will enter through the Home Side main gates.

Meals- The band boosters will provide Chick-fil-a chicken Breakfast biscuit, chips, and drinks for lunch. They will also provide gatorade after our pre-lim performance and snacks for the evening. Students should bring $$$ for concessions for the evening.

Widdy Up Fundraiser

Amount Raised: $23,305

I am so proud of the Kempner Band and our community. We raised $23,305 which is the single biggest fundraiser that we have had in the 7 years I have been at Kempner. Thank you to everyone who donated!!! I am incredibly grateful for all of the support our band has received. This money will go directly to paying for equipment, music, instruments, instructors, uniforms, transportation, and so much more. We were very close to our goal of $25,000.

Contact Sheet- We are sending home a contact sheet that students need to fill out and bring back tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept 12th. Every student needs at least 15 contacts. They will input their contacts into the Widdy-Up page and Widdy-Up will send their pitch video to their contacts and request donations.

Home Game(Senior Night) Saturday, October 21st at Mercer Stadium

Kempner Band Family,

We have our 8th Football Game this Saturday, October 21st at Mercer Stadium Stadium at 1:00pm against Fulshear High School. We will sit on the Home side and perform to the Home side at Half Time. A full itinerary for Saturday is listed below.  I hope that many of you can make it out to support our students.

Senior Night: We will recognize Seniors before the game at 12:20pm. Please check the list of Seniors and verify information is correct. Seniors need to dress in formal attire and will be escorted by their parents and/or immediate family members. Please fill out this information doc for announcements. Anyone who wishes to escort their senior student who is NOT a Parent/Guardian must be approved by Mr. Brodt. Escorts will need to purchase a ticket to get into the stadium. NO PARENTS/GUARDIANS WILL BE ALLOWED TO ESCORT THEIR SENIOR WITHOUT PURCHASING A TICKET.

Emergency Contact Information- All students must turn this in or they will not be allowed to travel with us and can’t go to the game.

Dress: Full Uniform: Students will be wearing their full uniform for this performance. Maroon Member Shirt, Bibbers(uniform pants), Long Black Socks, and Black MTX Marching Shoes.. Students with long hair will have to put their hair in a double braid when in uniform. Students are not permitted to wear jewelry when in uniform. Students are not permitted to have nail polish on when in uniform. Students are not permitted to eat when in uniform.

Equipment Needed: Instrument, flip folder with music, liar, water jug(pre-filled with ice-water). 

Meals- If you paid for the meal plan, the meal is Kolache Factory and Shipley’s Donuts – 2 kolaches, 2 donuts and drink. If you did not purchase the meal plan, you may bring a sack lunch to eat during ECPL time. Students must have a written note from a parent to leave campus to eat during ECPL. ECPL stands for Eat Change Pack Load.

Dismissal- When we arrive back to school, we will not dismiss any students until all equipment has been put away and checked.

CLEAR BAG POLICY - Note FBISD has implemented a clear bag policy for all games at District sports facilities including Hall Stadium, Hopson Field House, Mercer Stadium, Wheeler Field House, Cook Natatorium, and Aquatic Practice Facility.

The following types of bags are permitted:

  • Clear, plastic, vinyl, or PVC bags that do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12” in size

  • Clear, plastic, one-gallon, re-sealable, Ziploc-style bags

  • Clutch bags approximately the size of a hand (4½” x 6½” or smaller)
