LoneStar Preview contest itinerary

Meals:
Breakfast - At home
Lunch - At school, provided by KMCBC
Dinner - At stadium, provided by KMCBC
Concessions - Please bring money for additional concessions in the event that we are at the stadium late in the evening.

Ticket Information:
Tickets will be available at the gate. Ticket prices are as follows: Adult: Prelims only-$12, Finals only-$12, All day-$19; Students & Senior Citizens (65 & older): Prelims only-$7, Finals only-$7, All day-$12. Parking: $5 per vehicle.  More information will be included in your director packet which will be e-mailed to you early in October. Ticket information will also be available on our website at www.twhsband.org/Lone-Star-Preview.html. 

Itinerary:
9:30 am - Call time!
10:00 am - Rehearsal begins
11:00 am - Rehearsal ends - Load, eat, change, pack
12:15 pm - Inspection
12:45 pm - Meeting
1:00 pm - Depart for Woodforest Bank Stadium
2:15 pm - Arrive at Woodforest Bank Stadium
2:30 pm - Woodwinds travel to bathroom, brass unload and stack instruments by section
2:45 pm - Brass travel to bathroom, trade with woodwinds who will unload and get into twos
3:00 pm - Get into twos, get plumed, prepare to travel to warm-up
3:15 pm - Warm-up time (Area D)
4:30 pm - Amazing performance!
4:45 pm - Meeting by trucks
4:50 pm - Light load - de-plume, put instrument into cases, but leave off of the trucks in stacks
4:55 pm - Change into halves (except for drum majors)
5:30 pm - Take meal to stands
5:35 pm - Travel to stands for awards
5:45 pm - Prelims awards

This band contest is a preliminary and finals format.  This means that should the band advance to finals, we will be at the venue till the contest concludes later in the evening. 

In the event that we do not make finals, the following schedule will take place:
6:00 pm - Meeting by trucks
6:15 pm - Change into hot weather uniform
7:00 pm - Travel to stands to watch Finals performances
10:00 pm - Finals ends
10:15 pm - Load
10:30 pm - Depart for KHS
11:30 pm - Arrive at KHS
12:00 am - Estimated dismissal time

In the event that we make finals, the following schedule will take place:
6:00 pm - Meeting by the trucks

11:15 pm - Directors will go to critique - chaperones will need to help the staff by getting the students to the buses and changed. 
11:15 pm - Change out of uniform
11:45 pm - Depart for KHS
1:00 am - Arrive at KHS
1:30 am - Estimated dismissal time

Region Orchestra Audition Entry

Students & Parents,

Those students who are interested in participating in the TMEA All-Region Orchestra audition on November 14th need to complete the following actions:

  1. Fill out the "All-Region Ensemble Audition Form" on our website: http://kempnerband.org/forms/
  2. Submit $20.00 to the band office safe in an official KMCBC envelope (checks made out to KMCBC).
  3. Complete the following contract with parent and student signature with the fee above to the band office safe in the same envelope as the fee. Page two is for your records and information.
  4. Submit all of these items in the proper format by this Thursday, October 13th.

NOTE: Late entries will not be accepted. Entries submitted without all of the above items will not be entered.

Concert In The Park - Tomorrow

Parents,

Tomorrow is our 2nd annual Concert In The Park! Here are a few things to consider:

  • This is a mandatory and graded event.
  • The itinerary can be found on our calendar: kempnerband.org/calendar
  • Students will report to KHS at 2 pm for rehearsal. Please feed your student lunch, as they will not be fed by KMCBC tomorrow. 
  • Students will wear hot weather uniform
    • Member shirt (will need to wash it tonight)
    • Khaki shorts
      • I have received complaints about the length of shorts for girls - please make sure the shorts are an appropriate length in order to maintain professionalism.
    • Black ankle socks
    • Black marching shoes
  • Students will be bussed to Eldridge Park, but will not be bussed back to KHS
    • The expectation is that you attend the concert and then take your student home  afterwards
  • Loading crew members will need to help unload at KHS after the concert
  • Food trucks will be available for dinner. Students are encouraged to bring money for this.
  • After 8 pm, the students are no longer the responsibility of the band staff. 
    • Please be there to support your child and to take them home afterwards.
    • You are welcome to stay in the park as late as you wish after the concert.
