Away Game , Friday, November 4th, 7:00pm at Wildcat Stadium

We have our 10th Football Game this Friday, November 4th at Wildcat Stadium in Angleton at 7pm against Angleton High School. We will sit on the visitor side and perform to the Home side at Half Time. A full itinerary for Friday is listed below.  I hope that many of you can make it out to support our students.

Emergency Contact Information- All students must turn this in or they will not be allowed to travel with us and can’t go to the game.

Dress: Full Uniform: Students need to wear LONG BLACK SOCKS with the full uniform. Students will wear their member shirt underneath the uniform. They will also wear black compression shorts or black basketball shorts underneath. Students with long hair will have to pull their hair into a “show bun” when in uniform. Students are not permitted to wear jewelry when in uniform. Students are not permitted to have nail polish on when in uniform. Students are not permitted to eat when in uniform.

Equipment Needed: Instrument, flip folder with music, liar, water jug(pre-filled with ice-water). 

Meals- If you paid for the meal plan, the meal this Saturday is Raising Canes – 4 Chicken Strips, 1 toast, chips, cookie and drink. If you did not purchase the meal plan, you may bring a sack lunch to eat during ECPL time. Students must have a written note from a parent to leave campus to eat during ECPL. ECPL stands for Eat Change Pack Load.

Dismissal- When we arrive back to school, we will not dismiss any students until all equipment has been put away and checked.

CLEAR BAG POLICY - Note FBISD has implemented a clear bag policy for all games at District sports facilities including Hall Stadium, Hopson Field House, Mercer Stadium, Wheeler Field House, Cook Natatorium, and Aquatic Practice Facility.

The following types of bags are permitted:

  • Clear, plastic, vinyl, or PVC bags that do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12” in size

  • Clear, plastic, one-gallon, re-sealable, Ziploc-style bags

  • Clutch bags approximately the size of a hand (4½” x 6½” or smaller)

10:00 pm - Depart for KHS

Cougar Kick-Off/Lock-In

Cougar Kick-Off

On Friday, August 12th we will have our annual Cougar Kick-Off at the Kempner Football Stadium here on our campus. The Kick-Off will begin at 7:30pm. There will be performances by the Brigade, Cheerleaders, Football team, and it will be our first public performance of the 2022 competition show “Romeo and Juliet”! Admission is free so please come out and see what our students have been working so hard to put together.

Uniform: Students need to wear their Hot Weather uniform for this performance. Black Member Shirt, Black Basket Ball Shorts, Black ankle socks, and Black MTX Marching Shoes.

Grades: This is a required event for all band students. This performance will count as a double Major grade. Students must be present and participate to earn a grade of 100%.

Lock-In

After the performance, we will have a lock-in. The lock-in will be 9pm-12am. Band students will play games, sing karaoke, eat food, and have a great time all evening together. Students are required to bring an item listed below for entrance to the lock-in. Students also need to fill out a parent permission form and turn it in to Mr. Brodt.

What to bring: You must bring one of the donation items listed below. You can bring any entertainment systems or games you would like. You may also bring footballs, basketballs, or frisbees.

Chaperones: Parent volunteers are needed to supervise the kids, serve food and snacks and help with clean-up. Please be on the lookout for a future Sign-up genius. Thank you in advance for your support!

Action Items Before Band Camp

BAND CAMP IS MANDATORY FOR ALL BAND STUDENTS!!!

Camp begins July 18th for Percussion, July 19th for Guard, and July 25th for All other members. Check the calendar for a complete schedule of all rehearsals.

Physicals

All band students must complete a physical before July 25th. For more information regarding physicals, please click here: physicals

Flip Folder/Lyre

All woodwind and brass students are required to have a flip folder and a lyre. You can purchase these items at any of our local music stores; Music & Arts, H&H, Fort Bend Music Center. You must have these items by July 25th.

White T-Shirts/Rehearsal uniform

All band students must wear white-t-shirts at marching band rehearsals including band camp. It is okay if the t-shirts have logos or writing on them, as long as they are mostly white. Students must wear some type of tennis shoe for rehearsals; no sandals, slides, high heels, etc. It is recommended that students wear basketball style shorts for rehearsal. There is no requirement for color.

Hot Weather Uniform

We wear hot weather uniforms for football games and performances when the temperature is extreme, usually the first 2-4 games of the year. We also wear hot weather uniforms for pep rallies, after performances at contest, etc..

Practice your instrument

It is absolutely vital for the success of our band that students practice over the summer. Please begin practicing the 1st mvt of the Romeo and Juliet show. It is expected that all members are able to play the 1st mvt by the beginning of camp(100-160bpm). Students who are not able to play show music at the beginning of camp may not be given a contest show spot. Please practice stand tunes also.
