SLMS Side by Side with Wind Ensemble

On Thursday, February 6th the Wind Ensemble Members and Drumline will be rehearsing with the SLMS band students at Sugar Land Middle School. This is a great opportunity to help our future KHS students make connections and feel welcomed into the KHS Band Program. They will help them with their UIL preparation and then will form a megaband and learn some exciting new music together. At the end of the night they will perform for parents.

Transportation: Students are responsible for their own ride to and from SLMS. Please make arrangements so every student is on time. Drop off is on the Eastside teacher parking lot by the band hall. Students are responsible for getting their instrument to and from SLMS. The only exception is Tuba, Euphonium Bari Sax, and Percussion.

Dress: Full Uniform: Students are encouraged to wear their SLMS T-Shirts and hoodies if they still have one. If you do not have a SLMS shirt, wear a Kempner Band State T-Shirt.

THIS IS A REQUIRED EVENT FOR A MAJOR GRADE!!!

5:30 pm - Rehearse Mega Band Epic Game Music
6:30 pm - Perform for SLMS parents

Concert Uniforms 2025

Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band members will wear Concert Uniforms to the following performances:

Symphonic Pre-UIL, 3/27-3/28

Wind Ensemble Pre-UIL, 4/1

Spring Band Concert @ KHS Auditorium , April 7th

Symphonic UIL, 4/11-4/12

Wind Ensemble UIL, 4/17

Wind Ensemble HCU Recording , 5/8

Wind Ensemble Roundtop Recording, 5/4

Concert Uniforms: We have special performance clothing that is owned and maintained by Kempner High School through the annual school district budget, but there are additional items that the student is responsible for providing. These uniforms are expensive and they must last for another 7 years. Take care of them! We will wear the Concert Uniform for all Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, and Full Orchestra performances this semester.

Ladies will be fitted in a black concert dress supplied by KHS, but they will need to supply black closed toe shoes.

Gentleman will be fitted in tuxedo jackets and pants supplied by KHS, but they will need to supply their own white tux shirt and black bow tie, as well as black socks and black dress shoes (you may wear your marching shoes) . A black cummerbund is optional but not required.

Please have theses items by the end of Spring Break!
