IMPORTANT: KHS Band Parent Meeting

We are very excited about the 2017-2018  school year.  We have a great group of students and many exciting events planned!  As parents and volunteers, we feel that it is critical to our continued success to communicate to our parents about policies, schedules, and events concerning the Kempner High School band.

As we have communicated before, we have our 3rd general meeting of the year coming up!  We realize that as parents you have very busy schedules, but this is a meeting that cannot be overlooked.

We will be discussing the calendar, updates, parent volunteer opportunities, booster club board positions for 2017-18, participation expectations and more.  If this is your first time as a band parent or if you have a returning band student, you don’t want to miss this meeting. We will also be discussing our 1st Annual Mattress Fundraiser and we need your help! We are excited to be invited into this opportunity and expect our participation to lead to our best year yet!

This is a very important meeting for all parents.

If you have a student that is in KHS Band,  

PLEASE PLAN TO ATTEND THIS MEETING.

The meeting will be held in the Kempner High School Band Hall on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 6:30PM.   We look forward to seeing you there!!

Contest Spectator Etiquette
•    No flash photography allowed
•    Entry and exit from the performance gym is only allowed between performances
•    Arrive early so you do not miss our performance!
•    Please be respectful to those around you by not talking or distracting during performances
•    Cheers and applause are encouraged!

Information
•    Food will not be provided before we depart.  Please make plans to eat a light snack after rehearsal.
•    Dinner will be provided at the contest.

ABSENCE REPORTING

Please visit our band website to report upcoming absences (excused or unexcused). http://kempnerband.org/forms/

This is important because the staff needs to organize rehearsals and instruction plans that are most beneficial to the students who are present.  Rehearsal goals and objectives are planned in advance and if absences are known, plans can be made accordingly to get the most out of everyone's rehearsal times.  For questions regarding absence status, please refer to the band classes syllabushttp://kempnerband.org/syllabus/.  This encompasses all activities affiliated with every program under the organization of the band staff, including Winter Guard and Indoor Percussion.   

FUTURE CALENDAR ITEMS AT A GLANCE!

The following events are items of interest and importance.  

3/23 @ 6:30pm general booster club meeting, BANQUET TICKETS GO ON SALE AT THIS MEETING! Very important fundraising information will be discussed at this meeting as well!

3/27 wind ensemble rehearsal changed to this date in order to prepare for Pre-UIL.  All bands will rehearse that day to ensure our students' success!

3/28 KHS and Austin High School combined Pre-UIL concert on KHS campus in the auditorium.

4/21 last day to purchase 2017 Band Banquet tickets!

5/9 general booster club parent meeting!

5/26 final band concert and individual and ensemble competition!
