On Saturday, October 26th we are performing for the UIL AREA Marching Band Contest at Channelview ISD Ray Maddry Stadium. This is a Pre-lims/Finals style contest. We will perform in our pre-lims performance at 12:30pm and will be evaluated by 3 music and 2 visual judges. Only the top 12 bands will advance to Finals. Finals will begin that evening at 7:45pm and the 12 finalist will perform again and be ranked based on their finals performance. The top 6 bands in finals will advance to the UIL State Marching Contest at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio.

Dress: Full Uniform: Students need to wear LONG BLACK SOCKS with the full uniform. Students will wear their Black Arachnid shirt underneath the uniform. They will also wear black compression shorts or black basketball shorts underneath. Students with long hair will have to put their hair in a high schow bun when in uniform. Students are not permitted to wear jewelry when in uniform. Students are not permitted to have nail polish on when in uniform. Students are not permitted to eat when in uniform.

Admission to the contest is $7.00 per person, online only, CASH NOT ACCEPTED. The admission ticket is good for both Prelims and Finals. Encourage your parents and other attendees to purchase their tickets at least 30 minutes before arriving to allow for processing and to avoid a large crowd at the entrance. Meals- The band boosters will provide Kolaches, Donuts, and Juice for Breakfast. They will also provide a taco station and gatorades for dinner at the stadium. Students should bring $$$ for Lunch at Baybrook Mall.

Kempner Band Family,

We will be rehearsing Monday, Oct 21st and Tuesday, Oct 22nd at Mercer Stadium Stadium at 6:00 pm-9:00 pm. This is a required rehearsal for all students and will count as a double daily grade. Students are responsible for their own ride to and from the Mercer Stadium. Please do everything within your power to make arrangements. NO EXCUSES!

This is a very important Rehearsal. Practicing at a Contest stadium is a priceless opportunity that will help our band to improve and set them up for success as contest season starts. We have our design team, sound engineers, and clinicians booked to help the band during this rehearsal. We can not accomplish our goals without EVERY member present.

The Band Hall will not be open after school on this day 3:00pm, go home.

Dress: Practice Uniform: White T-Shirts, Basketball Shorts, Tennis Shoes. NO CROCS!!!

Equipment Needed: Instrument, water jug(pre-filled with ice-water)

Instruments: Students must bring their own instruments home and bring them to the stadium with them.

We will only bring the following instruments on the trailer:

Front Ensemble, Druml Line, Tubas, Baritones, Bari Saxophones, Tenor Saxophones, Bass Clarinets

UIL Region Marching Contest 2024

Student Report Time 6:00 AM

On Saturday, October 19th we are performing for the UIL Region Marching Band Contest at Hall Stadium in FBISD. This is a UIL ratings contest. We will perform at 10:45pm and will be evaluated by 3 judges who rate us with Division ratings of 1 through 5. If the band receives 1s from the judges we will receive a UIL Marching Trophy and advance to the AREA contest on Oct 28th.

They will also wear black compression shorts or black basketball shorts underneath. Students with long hair will have to pull their hair into a “2 Braids” when in uniform. Students are not permitted to wear jewelry when in uniform. Students are not permitted to have nail polish on when in uniform. Students are not permitted to eat when in uniform.
